my friend.

i can't really go on chronicling my days without making mention of my beautiful & amazing friend, cory. back in september...my heart broke to learn of his passing. it has taken me quite awhile to be able to sit down and write a small bit about him. the friendship he and i shared over the last 25 years has touched my life & heart in ways that only a true friendship can.
there are not many milestones in my life that cory was not, in some way, a part of. i miss him every day.
what a lucky person i am to have had such a friend.

he was, most certainly, a happy thing in my life.

i love you, buddy.
may your journey continue and fill you with peace.
My True Friend.

two size tuesday

have a building block extravaganza before bedtime, put the kids to bed, then realize How the Grinch Stole Christmas is on (1966 version, thank you very much), get Wy out of bed (who is all too willing to scamper downstairs) for an impromptu tv time cuddle.

think my heart grew two sizes that day.

"maybe christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more."

Being Thankful

when i take a look at my life, i see a lot to be thankful for, but truly it boils down to these two little men who i adore with all my heart. i'm thankful i get to be their "mama" and raise them in san diego with my hubs, who is equally adored.

off to AZ to visit grandma t & co.

nothing like sharing a snow cone with your best buddy!
reunited and it feels so good!

The Different Faces of Silence

silence.
always sounds the same, but may present itself very differently!

ok photo below isn't exactly, "silence" personified, but the aftermath.

so, yes, silence may always sound the same, but look very different!

Fall Has Fell!

ingredients for a good time:
1 fall day
1 rake
1 tree (ornamental pear trees work nicely, but any sort of deciduous variety will do)
1 pair of work gloves for the raker, because believe me you will be raking and raking and raking-blisters form fast!)
2 children (grownups-you need to take your turn kicking through the pile too. it's very liberating!)

oh happy weekend!

p & me

hubby and i got to sneak in a little date night to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary by a culinary gluttony fest at burlap (still dreaming about my brussel sprouts. yes, that's right, brussel sprouts. i'm telling you this restaurant is magic.)  we then treated ourselves to some live music at anthology. a little goapele. her neosoul was good for our soul.
happy anniversary p!
 i love you.
you mean the world to me.
(and thanks for a fun anniversary date!)

sunday was spent chillin' with the family doing our sunday usual-watching football & having pirate booty picnics in the front yard while watching the hot air balloons float by. it was a happy weekend.

One of my most favorite things to do at home is to watch the hot air balloons drift by. Today, I watched them with my mom and the boys. From my front yard! I love my home.
