Henry Miller

I think I was 21 when I fell in love with these words. I'm happy to say, they still ring true with me.
Henry Miller-I would've liked to have known you.

“Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths. We all derive from the same source. there is no mystery about the origin of things. We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, only to discover what is already there.”

Day 365

2011.
A year Pete and I will always remember. We ended it by spending the evening with beautiful friends, ridiculously good food, entertainment supplied by two extremely energetic 3 year olds, a sweet baby, and if you squinted real hard, a surprise guest appearance by a former Rockette.

We pretty much rocked it.

Food Comas Are Real
(Never fear, he eventually came back to life. Nothing a little papaya enzyme couldn't handle.)

Squint real hard...

...I know. If it weren't for the cozy living room background, you'd think you were front row at the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.
It's a treat.
Goodnight 2011.
And thank you.
