Ski Canada!

our first family ski /play in the snow trip. and we're in Canada! i can't believe it has taken me this long to travel here. i can not get enough of the open space! driving through Banff was amazing! (see above pic-just a taste!)
and may i just add, my little wy on skis, well, quite frankly, it doesn't get any better than that.
 the shredder. (teehee)

warm here-it is not. 19F. but when you have this in front of you how can you complain...?
oh christmas tree! oh christmas tree!
no you are not imagining it, this tree is only decorated from the middle up. i love these toddler christmas'!
i will miss them when they are gone!

and it isn't the christmas season without a canadian grinch. (carved out of white chocolate, no less!)

the ski rental:never mind that i completely let the cat our of the bag, that i have little clue to what i'm doing, by putting wy's ski boots on the wrong feet. (i think they're on to me!)

these two have such a special bond. it's something that makes me so happy to watch. a boy & his dad. a dad & his boy. any way i choose to look at it, it touches my heart. pre-kids,when i used to sit back and picture what it might be like to be a parent with my husband, i think this is something i may have imagined.

coming down the mountain!

so lucky to have these people in our lives!
xoxoxoxo

those guys! heliskiing!
super cool and completely beyond my capability. nothing wrong with living vicariously!once again...ski Canada!

tamale time.

a gift from 2012 was a reconnection to a completely cool family tradition. christmas tamales making. it's a combination of the perfect mix of spices from aunt jennie's recipe and the mix of spices of these amazing people, and maybe-just maybe, a touch of magic.
you can't find a tastier food! i'm telling you!

my girls.

another gift 2012 brought my way, that i am truly grateful for, is the reconnection with some incredible&beautiful (inside&out) friends. here we are. celebrating the first of several 40ths. friends to the side of me. friends behind me. happy things all around me.

Friday Night With Friends

the brunckhursts have been a big part of our lives for the past 10 years. back in 2002, we were lucky enough to move next store to them, back in our 7578 days, and the rest has been history. these people are good! true salt of the earth, i'm telling you.

there have been many a dance festival among us.
glad to see the babes continuing the tradition!

is there anything better than popcorn and a movie with your buddy?(polar express, y'all!)
i really can't think of anything.i'm just saying!

my friend.

i can't really go on chronicling my days without making mention of my beautiful & amazing friend, cory. back in september...my heart broke to learn of his passing. it has taken me quite awhile to be able to sit down and write a small bit about him. the friendship he and i shared over the last 25 years has touched my life & heart in ways that only a true friendship can.
there are not many milestones in my life that cory was not, in some way, a part of. i miss him every day.
what a lucky person i am to have had such a friend.

he was, most certainly, a happy thing in my life.

i love you, buddy.
may your journey continue and fill you with peace.
My True Friend.

two size tuesday

have a building block extravaganza before bedtime, put the kids to bed, then realize How the Grinch Stole Christmas is on (1966 version, thank you very much), get Wy out of bed (who is all too willing to scamper downstairs) for an impromptu tv time cuddle.

think my heart grew two sizes that day.

"maybe christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more."
